Thalassoterapia Opatija
Pulmonology is a branch of medicine that deals with diagnosing and treating lung diseases.
Thalassotherapia Opatija offers a specialist examination by a pulmonologist with non-invasive pulmonological diagnostics.
The most common symptoms of lung diseases include shortness of breath and cough. According to data from the World Health Organization, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is causally and consequentially predominantly linked to cigarette smoking; it has been among the ten leading causes of death for years. At the same time, more than 262 million people have asthma. It is important to note that in addition to possible acute diseases of the respiratory system, such for example pneumonia or acute bronchitis, and the already mentioned obstructive lung diseases, the lungs can also be affected by a whole series of other systemic diseases (for example, connective tissue diseases) and, due to professional exposure, potentially harmful inhalation agents.
Thalassotherapia Opatija has an individualized, personalized and multidisciplinary approach to the patient.
We offer non-invasive pulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic methods:
· Specialist examination and recommendation of a pulmonologist
· Spirometry with a flow/volume curve
· Spirometry with the pharmacodynamic - bronchodilator test with salbutamol
· 6-min -WT
· Pleural puncture (diagnostical)
· Treatment with conventional medications, inhalation therapy and biological therapy as recommended by a pulmonologist
Soon, we will start implementing Respiratory Rehabilitation following modern recommendations in a team consisting of a pulmonologist, a physiotherapist, a nurse, a clinical psychologist and a nutritionist. Also, we are in the process of organizing the work for conducting bronchoprovocation testing with methacholine.
Following our multidisciplinary approach, pulmonology activities are carried out in close cooperation with the Radiology Unit; therefore, our clients are also provided with modern radiological diagnostics of the lungs (X-ray of the chest organs, MSCT of the thorax) with the emphasis that Thalassotherapia Opatija is also included in the National Screening Program and early detection of lung cancer since its beginning in 2020. In addition, a low-dose CT chest is performed on a computerized tomography device in smokers aged 55 to 75, who are referred for examination by a selected family medicine physician.
