Reference centres and chairs
Two reference centres of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia operate in Thalassotherapia Opatija: - Reference centre for health tourism and medically programmed vacation and - Reference centre for cardiac rehabilitation which is a recognition of excellence and a generator of new achievements in our institution.
We also act as the headquarters of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, as well as the centre of the Department of Physical Medicine of the Faculty of Health Studies, University of Rijeka, aware of the importance of stimulating the synergistic action of healthcare institutions and scientific research and educational institutions. Finally, we are the teaching base of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek.
Through the work of our reference centres and cooperation with faculties in Rijeka and Osijek, we provide patients with top-notch service, ensure the excellence of (future) medical staff and shape the future of medicine to the pride of generations to come.

Reference centre for health tourism and medically programmed holidays
of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia (since 1998)
The Reference centre for health tourism and medically programmed vacations has been operating since 1998 as part of Thalassotherapia Opatija. Today's scope and quality of professional, scientific research and teaching work have grown on the proud tradition of 65 years.
The professional activity of the Reference Centre is carried out under modern standards of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and is continuously intertwined, connected and supplemented with the scientific - research and teaching activities of the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka.
Thalassotherapia Opatija maintains close cooperation with insurance companies from Austria and Norway. It provides health services in the field of dermatology and rheumatology as well as to other patients who use health tourism medical programs. At the same time, the Reference centre enables all patients to use medical wellness services with the cooperation and advice of medical teams.
